Comment:
This seminar represents the second phase of the experimental project DoCiP (Doing Culture in Performance). Based on their insights and experiences from the first project phase, participants will work together with pupils from local schools in order to create short adaptations of Othello. Once again, participants will be supported by staff from Theater Paderborn and there will be a public presentation of pupils' adaptations on stage. Since the subject Darstellendes Spiel is gaining more and more importance in schools and 'teaching drama' has been part of curricular requirements for a long time, participants will gain insights into a highly relevant topic and be able to develop essential competences.
In order to prepare students for the workshops with young learners, the theoretical part of this seminar will be dedicated to approaches and techniques of teaching drama creatively and productively. Participants will then put their theoretical knowledge into practice by organising and implementing workshops for pupils from local schools. As in the first project phase, these workshops will aim at providing a space for pupils in which they can read Othello from a Cultural Studies perspective and develop short adaptations.
Important notes:
Please note that this seminar is only open to students who participated in the first project phase. The seminar is organised as a compact seminar, followed by individual time slots for workshops with pupils.
