This introductory course will provide an overview of the essential areas of English language teaching. It will cover the following aspects:
 
-       Fremdsprachendidaktik as an applied science

-       research in applied linguistics, education, sociology, psychology and philosophy

-       theoretical approaches to language acquisition and language teaching

-       principles and methodological options in language teaching

-       you as a teacher

-       classroom discourse

-       classroom management

-       motivation

-       learner variables and roles of the teacher

-       cognitive styles and learning strategies

-       teaching vocabulary and grammar

-       course books and media

-       the CEFR and ELP
