Aim of the event:
Service life of a great many actual components is governed by damage due
to cyclic loading effects. Therefore, knowledge of cyclic stress-strain
response and the resulting evolution of fatigue damage is paramount to
efficient and safe design.
In this class, the mechanisms that cause fatigue failure will be addressed
first. Next, the problem of using data generated in the laboratory in
order to predict service life of actual components will be discussed.
Finally, various failure cases will be a studied.

Target group:
Junior and senior students who want to deepen their knowledge in materials science.
