Basic knowledge of strength of materials

Aim of the event:
To avoid damage and breakdown of technical structures certain aspects regarding strength failure and crack propagation must be considered.
The basics of fracture mechanics as well es of fatigue crack growth under cyclic loading, constant and variable amplitude and the experimental determination of fracture mechanical parameters are the main focus of the lecture "Fatigue Cracks". To complement these topics several practical examples of crack growth simulations will be shown.

Students of mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, technomathematics, physics and computer science
