Lectures Werkstoffkunde 1 and
Werkstoffkunde 2
Aim of the event:
This lecture introduces the students
to the wide field of meodern stells and
steelmaking. After completing this
course the students will have the
ability to select the right steel for a
given application. For that purpose,
based on the fundamental mechanisms
of iron-based alloys the making and
processing of steels are presented.
Furthermore, dirrerent types of steel,
both standard as well as new steels,
for various applications are introduced
to the students.
Target group:
This lecture addresses all students
pursuing a degree within the faculty
mechanical engineering
Contents:
- commercial relevance of steel
- fundamentals of iron-based alloys
- steel making
- steel casting
- milling and thermo-mechanical treatment
- pipe manufacturing
- classification and nomenclature of steels
- processing and heat treatment of steels
- non-alloy and micro-alloyed deep drawing steels
- high-alloy steels
- stainless steels
- high-manganese steels
