Aim of the event:
This lecture builds up on the courses on "Product design and PDM" including CAD. Based on an introduction into design and planning processes, use cases for IT systems are introduced. Hence Product Data Management (PDM) is a special focus representing an integral part of the IT landscape of engineering companies. PDM is a key component of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) approaches for the design process. Supporting this focus, further topics like information and archive management, tender processing and calculation/costing are described to cover an holistic approach.

Target group:
Students in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and management, computer science and engineering as well as engineering and maths
and related studies for teaching certification

Contents:
• Produt data management as a core element the product design process
• Tender processing for complex technical systems
• Classification systems and product structures
• Software Engineering
• Data organisation and management
• CAD modelling and interfaces
• PPS
• PDM/ EDM/ archive management
• Data interfaces and standards
• PDM systems as a integration platform
• Application of PDM systems
