Requirements and recommendations:
Thermodynamics 1
Aim of the event:
In the lecture Students will learn different methods of cold production for which various compression methods and types of compressors are important as well as various heat and mass transfer apparatus. Thie lecture will qualify the students to evaluate different technologies and to calculate and design a suitable plant for a given application.
In this excercise, which in accord can be hold as project seminar, the students should active design a concrete example from the conceptual formulation to its integration in the whole plant.
Target group:
Students of process engineering and plastics technology and of manufacturing engineering and product development
Contents:
Design of different refrigeration processes and calculation of the COP
- Definition of the conceptual formulation
- Characterisation of the whole plant
- Identification of the requirements to the apparatus
- Contemplable types and evaluation for the given problem
- Calculation of the layout
- Benfits and disadvantage of alternatives
