Instructors: Prof. Dr. Thomas Tröster
Event type:
Lecture
Org-unit: Maschinenbau
Displayed in timetable as:
VD
Hours per week:
2
Language of instruction:
German
Min. | Max. participants:
- | -
Requirements and recommendations:
Engineering mechanics, physics
Aim of the event:
The lecture enables the student to understand and to explain the basic physical principles which affect and determine the operation of a vehicle. The students know how to decompose the complex system into subproblems and learn which particular solutions for the subproblems are available. Particularly, the driving properties of a vehicle are understood and can be explained.
Contents:
In this lecture the main aspects of straight-ahead driving of vehicles are treated. Addressed are:
- Driving resistances such as rolling resistances, air resistances, grade resistances, acceleration resistances and the consequential power requirement for the vehicle
- Drivetrains of vehicles as power sources
- Performance of a vehicle and driving limits
- Brakes, braking power characteristics
