Everybody is talking about the loss of values of/in popular music. Looking at shows like “Popstars” or “DSDS” the commercialization and medialization even of the development and becoming of celebrities can be observed and leads to a trivialization of popular music. In this course we will, at first, focus on theoretical basics on cultural, music, and media “high” and “low”. Afterwards we will use examples to discuss and analyse if we can find truth within all the so called rubbish and debris.
Topics will be discussed in the first session. 
Excersises and selection of texts will be discussed in the first sessions.
