Requirements and recommendations:
Basics for the lecture is good knowledge in technology and business economics, as they are taught in the lectures from basic studies of mechanical engineering or industrial engineering and management.
Aim of the event:
Students learn to recognize and evaluate technological and economic risks of development projects on the basis of applied examples and in tutorials. They get an insight in the dynamic design of development processes to improve knowledge retrieval. Thus you are enabled to estimate the economic value of product options and to assess the influence of "timing". You will gain insight in the technology progression for a focused and rapid development of innovative products.
Target group:
The lecture is focused on students from mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, techno mathematics, information science in engineering, physics and from informatics.
Contents:
1. Field of Innovation 1.1 Market . Benchmark . Competition comparison 1.2 Resources . Technology . Knowledge . Process design . The self-learning business 2 Opportunity sensing 2.1 Time Aspects 2.2 Roadmap management . dynamic portfolio . pipeline loading . evaluation/decision/budgeting 2.3 Chances . fractal information networks . dominant logic . idea addressing 3 Uncertainties 3.1 Scientific engineering aspects 3.2 Business aspects 3.3 Mathematical description 4 Risk management 4.1 Exception handling 4.2 Dependencies from chances and risks 4.3 Portfolio management 5 Front load design 5.1 Explicit determination of uncertainties and risks 5.2 Simultaneous design of development steps 5.3 Design focussing vs. point-focussing 5.4 Identification of the key questions in the first phases 5.5 Exercises 6 Change process 6.1 Organisation of the development 6.2 Innovation cells 6.3 Technology development process The lecture is composed of a lectural and a tutorial part. During the lectures the methodical and mathematical basics of the topics are developed. The application of the knowledge is done in case studies in the tutorial part. Most case studies dealt with within the lecture base on automobile technology and related areas of mechanical engineering.
