Requirements and recommendations:
Basics of polymer processing
Aim of the event:
In this lecture, students are taught the basics for the dimensioning and conceptual design of extrusion dies and injection molds. The focus initially lies in the field of mathematical description of flow processes. Subsequently, different tool concepts are covered. Here, the design of the flow channel takes a central position. The derivation of the basic equations previously taught then allows the estimation of the necessary parameters for the rheological interpretation. Furthermore, the discussion of different tooling concepts is a majaor part of the course.
Target group:
Students of the following subjects: mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and chemistry.
Contents:
1 Material properties
2 Simple isothermal flows
3 Nonisothermal flows
