Requirements and recommendations:
Fluid mechanics
Aim of the event:
In most technical processes fluid working media moving through machines and apparatus and form the basis for the aimed energy conversions. The lecture deals with fundamentals and technical realisations of these machines. The students should learn about the operating charcteristics of different types and be able to choose appropriate machines for a given application. In this excercise, which in accord can be hold as project seminar, the students should active design a concrete example from the conceptual formulation to its integration in the whole plant.
Target group:
Students of process technology and plastics technology and of production and product development
Contents:
Design of the turbo and a piston machine for a given application
- Definition of the conceptual formulation
- Characterisation of the whole plant
- Identification of the requirements to the apparatus
- Contemplable types and evaluation for the given problem
- Calculation of the layout
- Benfits and disadvantage of alternatives
