Requirements and recommendations:
This course is especially designed for students of IT, Engineering, or Natural Sciences who would like to train both their writing and oral English skills for their future professional life or for a term abroad. One of the core objectives of this course is to enable students to take part in varying communicative situations such as small talk and socialising, job interviews, business meetings or everyday life. Simultaneously, attendants will obtain the possibility to polish their individual writing styles. Together we will primarily explore the subsequent topics:
· Telephoning and emailing
· Writing CVs and applications
· Presentation strategies
· Living abroad
Grammatical accuracy and vocabulary expansion will be equally addressed. The course allows for speaking and interaction, so please come alert and ready for conversation. Instead of a final exam, students are obliged to submit a written assignment and to give a short presentation in class.
An online placement test will be conducted during the first lesson. Students need to score at least 50 points in order to attend class.
