Comment:
This course is an introduction to the scientific study of language. It is intended to familiarize students with the basic terminology and methodology of linguistics.
The main focus of the course will be on the core areas of linguistic analysis: phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Besides, we will discuss other disciplines of language study, such as historical linguistics and sociolinguistics.
