Requirements and recommendations:
Lecture: Basics of the polymer processing
Aim of the event:
First of all basics of the description of flow processes in polymer melts are taught. Further more, typical laws of heat transfer in the polymer processing are discussed. With this knowledge, the students get an overview about a commercial distributed software to analyse these mechanisms. Moreover, the lecture gives basics about the model theory. Exercise courses are additional measures to deepen the lecture. Theoretical basics are applied to the practical exercises.
Target group:
Students with the following fields of study: mechanical engineering or industrial engineering
Contents:
- Rheology
- Design of flat film dies
- Possibilities of the FEM in the die design (Polyflow)
- Injection molding tools (C-Mold)
- Calculation of the cooling section with FEM
- Temperature control systems
- Model theory
- Conception of a "Injection molding line"
- Conception of a "Extrusion line"
Contact person:
