Requirements and recommendations:
Basics of the polymer processing
Aim of the event:
At first basics of the description of flow processes in polymer melts are taught. Further more, typical laws of heat transfer in the polymer processing are discussed. With this knowledge, the students get an overview about a commercial distributed software to analyse these mechanisms. Moreover, the lecture gives basics about the model theory.
Exercise courses are additional measures to deepen the lecture. Theoretical basics are applied to the practical exercises.
Target group:
Students with the following fields of study: mechanical engineering or industrial engineering
Contents:
- Conservation equations
- Combination of the conservation equations with the description of the material
- Finite elements method (FEM)
- Heat transfer mechanisms in the polymer processing
- FEM-software: C-Mold, Polyflow, Antras
- Heat transfer calculation
- Calculation of the cooling section: SCooP
- Model theory
