Requirements and recommendations:
Basics of polymer processing
Aim of the event:
The now customary superior product quality is the result of extensive engineering work to avoid mistakes in all areas of development and manufacturing. Quality assurance is one of the growing disciplines in many companies, and the demand for qualified engineers is great.
The course explains the methods of quality assurance with a focus on industrial scale production. The methods and examples have a special relationship to plastics engineering and the automotive industry. The classic and innovative concepts of process-oriented quality assurance are presented and the application in polymer processing is discussed. The goal is to understand the occurring tasks and provide expertise for using the taught methods
During laboratory the methods shown in the lecture are practiced on practical examples in laboratory experiments (injection molding of polymers).
Target group:
Students of the mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and chemistry.
Contents:
- Description of QA-problems in the polymer processing and their cause.
- Basics of the methods of the QA in the polymer processing
- Discussion of concrete questions about QA with industrial partners
- Development and realisation of QA-concepts and solutions in the laboratory
