Aim of the event:
The students understand the basic principles in modern vehicle body construction. They know the materials and production technologies utilized in body manufacturing. Particularly, they understand the safety requirements for nowadays vehicle bodies and can analyze and evaluate their crash behavior.
Contents:
In this lecture different aspects of modern vehicle bodies are treated. Addressed are:
- Design and construction of vehicle bodies
- Body concepts / package
- Body design: chassis frame, integral body, Space-Frame structures, steel light weight construction
- Structural design factors, performance parameter
- Crash behavior, crash tests
- Body materials
- Production technologies in body manufacturing
- Repair concepts and recycling
