L.104.41295 Multi component technique

Course offering details

Instructors: Prof. Dr. Volker Schöppner

Event type: Lecture

Org-unit: Maschinenbau

Displayed in timetable as: Mehrkomptech.

Hours per week: 2

Language of instruction: German

Min. | Max. participants: - | -

Requirements and recommendations:
Standard methods injection molding

Standard methods extrusion

Aim of the event:
Modern plastic products must feature a high functionality, whereas different materials are applied. Especially low cost solutions emerge by omitting the joining technology, if the different materials are combined in a collective forming process. Within the field of injection molding and especially extrusion the multicomponent-techniques are used in more and more applications, e.g. the combination of high-quality surface materials with low-cost core components.
Aim of this lecture is to understand the manufacturing of products made of different materials by using the dominating methods of injection molding and extrusion. The necessary calculation methods to dimension the process as well as the products are conveyed.

Contents:
- Compatibility of different material
- Calculation of simple Multiphase flows
- Co - extrudated products
- Co - extrusion dies
- Multi-color injection molding
- Sandwich molding process
- Gas assisted injection molding and water injection technique
- Foaming
- Evaluation of the Cooling process of multi component materials
