Basics of polymer processing

Aim of the event:
An joining of polymers encloses welding, sticking and mechanical and actuated adding. Target of the lecture is to make the students familiar with the adding prozesses and -techniques. Thereby the bases of these joining processes are the center of attention. The students should also learn under which conditions which joining process can be use most reasonable.

Target group:
Students of the following subjects:
mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and chemistry

Contents:


1 Adhesion:
Physical and chemical reciprocal effect, adhesion theory, diffusion theory,adhesion criteria

2 Weld from plastics:
Heat contact procedure (heating elements, thermal impulse welding), heatingwedge-weld, friction welding method, (ultrasonic -, vibration -, rotation -, orbital welding), radiation-weld (laser beam-lightemitter-weld), convection welding (warm gas -, extrusion welding), electrical welding methods (of resistance -, high frequency -, induction welding), examining welded joints (short time -, long-term behaviour)

3 Stick from plastics:
kinds of adhesive, configuration sticking seam, adhesion, process steps, pre-treating, laying on, ventilating, adding and solidification and hardening, simple calculation basics

4 mechanical connections:
snap connections, groove and screw connections

5 actuated connections:
press connections, characteristics, calcualation basics
