In order to attend this course, you MUST have passed the Introduction to Linguistics.

Inhalt:
Morphology is about the basic building blocks that words are composed of. Words can come in different inflectional forms (e.g. talk - talks - talking - talked) and be combined to new complex words (e.g. walkie-talkie, talkshow). This class introduces you to the linguistic terminology that is necessary to identify and analyse the internal structure of words. We will take a closer look at various types of word formation (e.g. compounding, suffixations) and inflectional morphology both from a synchronic and a diachronic perspective.

Please note that physical attendance is necessary in the first session, so we can determine the demand. Any spots on the course that are not taken will be given to other students.
