Kommentar: It is the task of theology to rationally examine the claims of religious believes. In modern times, not a single major theme of Christian belief has been left uncontested. Since certainties of former centuries, such as the existence of God, are now subject to heavy debates, theologians need to provide arguments in order to uphold the basics of theism. In the seminar, we will engage in those debates that touch upon monotheistic claims in general (God’s existence, Science and Faith, Miracles) and the Christian faith in particular (Doctrine of the Trinity, Incarnation, Resurrection). We will thoroughly examine voices arguing for and against those ideas and also take into account the answers provided by other religious traditions. The course will be held in English and primarily focus on Moreland, J.P. et. al. (ed.): Debating Christian Theism, Oxford 2013. Further readings will be made available in course of the seminar.
