Kommentar: This course will introduce students to the basic skills of academic research and writing in literary and cultural studies, using contemporary British drama as a thematic framework. We will work on topics such as term paper- and essay writing (finding topics, formulating research questions and a thesis statement, finding relevant literature and online resources on the topic, bibliographic work and citation structuring, formatting revising texts etc.). In short we will also deal with presentation skills and feedback techniques. During this seminar, students are asked to develop their own research project and write a term paper in a step by step approach. Thus, the seminar will assist you during the various steps of your own research work. Possible research projects may focus on: • Language and Speech Strategies in Contemporary British Drama • Dystopia in British Drama • Postdramatic Theatre/ British Drama and Postmodernism • Identity and Power, Stereotyping • Identity and Dominance • In-Yer -Face-Theatre
Wichtige Hinweise: Attendance in the introductory session is mandatory! A general interest in contemporary drama, weekly preparation of the course and regular participation in course discussions is a necessary basis for the successful completion of the seminar. If you are planning to do a PL in this seminar please speak to the seminar organiser before you register.
