Kommentar: This seminar is part of the interdisciplinary lecture cycle 'Religion und Kulturwissenschaft' organised by the Centre for Comparative Theology and Cultural Studies (ZeKK). There will be an alternation of seminar sessions with plenary lectures held by the participating members of ZeKK. Please note that these lectures and discussions will take place in German, although English will be the language of the seminar itself. The seminar will examine and compare images of religious faith, institutions and differences that have appeared on stages in Britain in the 21st century. Although the overall perspective is that of Cultural Studies, we will pay some attention to dramatic techniques and strategies as well. The plenary lectures will contextualise this topic in the wider field of approaches to religion in other disciplines. It is essential for the success of the seminar that participants read the plays under discussion. If necessary, this knowledge will be tested in the course of the seminar. The first play (England People Very Nice) should be read until the beginning of the semester.
Wichtige Hinweise: Please note that the plenary lectures and discussions will take place in German, although English will be the language of the seminar itself.
