Kommentar:
This course will introduce students to the basic skills of academic research and writing in (American) literary and cultural studies.
We will work on topics such as term paper- and essay writing, finding a topic, formulating research questions/thesis statement, finding and dealing with relevant (secondary) literature on the topic, bibliographic work and citation, structuring, formatting and revising texts etc.. We will also briefly look into presentations skills and discuss (critical) reading and feedback techniques.
Thus, the seminar will assist you during the various steps of your own research project, which is part of the credit requirements for this class. You will be asked to hand in your project at the end of January. If you are planning on doing a PL in this class, please contact me.
